Rae Earnshaw

Rae Earnshaw is Emeritus Professor of Electronic Imaging at the University of Bradford, UK, where he has been a member of the professoriate since 1995. From 2012 he has also held the role of Professor of Creative Industries at Glyndwr University, Wales, UK. rae.jpg

He gained his PhD at theUniversity of Leeds and is a chartered engineer and chartered information technology professional.  At Bradford University, he was Dean of the School of Informatics (1999-2007) and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Strategic Systems Development) (2004-09).  He has been a Visiting Professor at Illinois Institute of Technology, George Washington University, USA and Northwestern Polytechnical University, China.  He is a member of ACM, IEEE, CGS, Eurographics, and a Fellow of the British Computer Society and the Institute of Physics.  He is the recipient of the Silver Core Award from the International Federation for Information Processing, Austria. 

He has been author and collaborator in a large number of funded European R & D projects involving industry and research laboratories.  He has also acted as a reviewer and auditor of European projects and proposals since 1990.  He has acted as a reviewer and auditor for the United Nations and the Quality Assurance Agency. 

He has authored and edited 40 books on computer graphics, visualization, multimedia, design, and virtual reality, and published over 200 papers in these areas.  Book publishers include: Addison Wesley, Springer, Academic Press, Cambridge University Press, IEEE Computer Society Press, and John Wiley & Sons Inc.  He is on a number of Editorial Boards of international journals and is a Top Management Programme Fellow of the UK Leadership Foundation.
